Ending the Digital Divide

Team Children's mission is to create model replicable programs that ensure every child has the tools and opportunities they need to contribute and compete effectively in today's digital global environment. Presently, their major areas of focus are on promoting the benefits and practices of rolfing/massage for babies and children, transforming preschool education, ending the digital divide, promoting youth training and development in the non profit sector.

Team Children's Digital Inclusion project has now collected, repaired, and distributed over 11,000 low cost refurbished computers to families, schools and organizations.

Their efforts are estimated to have helped over 50,000 children cross the "Digital Divide."

Team Children began with the goal to help distribute 2,000 computers by the year 2000. This goal was accomplished and since then, the organization has pushed on to greater heights.

Computers and technological literacy are an essential tool of education, health care, business and communication in a rapidly changing world. Computer literacy is an essential skill needed to perform in school, business, and society as a whole. Those without regular access to a computer are in danger of being cut off from opportunity and advancement. This is a growing trend which Team Children aims to curb and eventually demolish.

The EEECF have teamed up with Team Children to provide low-cost refurbished computers to low income families. These refurbished computer units are given away pre-installed with BrillKids Little Reader and Little Math programs, software which enables babies, children, youth of all ages and those studying English as a second language to learn with ease and develop their skills at unprecedented rates, from their homes, in their schools, and at child care centers.

Every day a glut of older, slower computers are discarded - not because they don't work, but because they're not fancy enough, or equipped with all the latest technology - and that's where Team Children comes in.

Team Children aims to:

• Ensure that every child has access to the use of a computer in the comfort and safety of their home.
• That every school has adequate computers in the classroom.
• That no social service organization is with out the technological tools to accomplish their mission.
